6th July - BRB concert day 3.

Sleep in today. Dad cooked bacon and eggs to perfection. A bit of a clean up day around camp.

Mary and I started the fire and split some wood in preparation for tonight's fire.

Sorted some photos in pre- preparation for blog.

Carol and Barb popped by.

Generator is humming away as we sit around relaxing.

Today's music line up is Country. 2pm to 8.45pm:
James Blundell
Christie Lamb
Tania Kernaghan
The Wolfe Brothers
The McClymonts
Troy Cassar-Daley
Lee Kernaghan

Well the line up wasn't quite in that order. Someone's flight was messed up. The McClymonts were running late and Troy Cassar-Daly went first. There was also a delayed start.

Tania Kernaghan.
It was warm this morning once the clouds and 10 rain droplets cleared. So hot sitting out at the concert from about 3pm. Thankfully there was a breeze and occasional clouds to keep the heat down.

Here we are ready for the entertainment. Mary has her long lens today.

Steve and Carmel.

Sarah and Michael, the sun was hot.

Our crew.

The girls coming back from checking out something.

The entertainment begins.

The Stage and Big Red.
Someone has a flag, looked great up on the Dune and stayed for the whole show.

It was very much a 'country' atmosphere, the boots of the young girl sitting in front of us.

Here she is.

There was merch and hats everywhere.

Milani and her mango ice cream. The ice cream vendor had by far the longest queue.

Yep these guys are carrying a fake sheep...not sure why. But I did see it being held aloft in the mosh pit in front of stage, later in the night.

There they go.

The flag backlit in the beginning of sunset.

There goes the chopper - again.

Jay enjoying something.

Our tree and sunset.

sunset on Big Red.

Little puffs of cloud, turned pink and grey in
When I went to buy tea (delicious nachos again) I went for a wander around the plaza to check out KFC -
Still can't figure out what they are actually doing. Then cut back through the dog area and found Linda, Jesse and Toby Smithett for a chat. They are staying in Birdsville and driving out each day, however they caused some consternation as the dog area is on the opposite side of the site to the day car park - the answer was for them was to be escorted in their vehicle through the camp to the dog area.
A look around the Plaza, the ambos were on hand.

The loos nearest the stage, water supply was those red bladder things, when I saw them earlier they were waaaay bigger and fuller of water. The logistics of putting on the BRB are incredible.

The Plaza in the sunset.

Looking across the Plaza to the stage, with dust for added atmosphere.

Dinner for me...mexican, nachos. The little van comes all the way from Coffs Harbour. Lovely people.

Sun continues setting.
KFC in the sunset.

Our tree

KFC lit up for the night.

A big red tent next to KFC, no idea what was happening in there.

A chicken head, being carried and the Colonel  in the background...they disappeared into the big red tent.

The Colonel with a BRB Bucket.

Something for the kids, learning to do the 'chicken dance'

Something else for the kids, a slide.
As the final act Lee Kernaghan is celebrating 25 years since his first success. Joining him throughout the last session were:
·  sister, Tania Kernaghan,
·  The McClymonts
·  James Blundell
·  In the band were The Wolfe Brothers, Christie Lamb and Jon English's son Jonathan
The music today was pretty good and the artists all did a good job of entertaining and story telling. Some of the video clips that accompanied Lee Kernaghan were a bit 'slick' for the Bash - more suited to a full on concert at a venue and a bit too much gratuitous inclusion of scantily clad girls in the clips.

Back home after concert finishing at about 9.20. Willshire's don't have the luxury of purchasing at the vendors as there was nothing that catered for Kate's coeliacness, so it was home for tea. Steve and Carmel had left earlier to listen from home base and as a result we got home to a nice fire. Much appreciated Steve. Time for a cowboy or port or red wine for most accompanied by some chocolate. It got late quick. We had an incident with Mary and Phil's camper - Kate was kindly making cuppas and shortly after indicated that the camper was beeping - a battery warning. All ok, tomorrow will see us packing up to leave and moving again will charge everything up again.
