25 June - Swan Hill to Broken Hill

Today's plan up and out of Caravan Park - Big 4 Swan Hill and ready to depart Swan Hill by 9.30.

For some that meant fuel and breaky at Macca's (Dundek's, Dad and I) for others this meant left over pizza for breakfast at camp (Michael and I) for others it was normal breaky at camp.

Anyway we all met on the road near caravan park at 9.30 and headed off in our convoy.

The Whale with Matrix Monster van (Steve and Carmel) leading, Riceli and T van (Dad and I next) followed by yet to be named vehicle number 1 (Sarah and Michael) then the No Name Black Rangey (Jadon) and tail end Tuesday (Stef, Meg and Milani)

Then it was off for Broken Hill, the dirt turned red, the land flattened and the roadkill increased. We saw many live goats, emus, sheep, an echidna, a live roo and lots of dead ones.

Passed a couple of road trains and had a non-eventful trip to BH arriving about 3.30 SA time - despite being a NSW town, they work on Adelaide time here.
Beautiful blue skies

With radio contact and plenty of commentary and quipping along the way, we ambled to Wentworth for lunch by the Darling River and some more fuel for those of with no additional tanks.

We had passed through veggie growing areas, heaps of citrus and other crops.

First night with all of us in our chosen mode of accommodation tonight, so it was a team effort on arrival to get vehicles and vans parked, tents erected and some minor repairs to Tuesday's radio.

We headed off to celebrate Stef's day of birth (tomorrow) at The Astra - starting with drinks and cocktails and moving onto to a lovely meal as well.

All pooped and we can't believe its not yet 10pm local time and we are back in the caravan park with beds calling.

Some entertaining giggles from the rooftop crew. A cool night 7.4 as I type in my tent. Time to get hands under the covers and off to the land of zzzzz.
