A slow start this morning. Up to Innamincka for a shower.
Packing up camp, things have thankfully dried out |
Stopped for lunch at the turn off to the Dig Tree, where Sarah,
Michael, Jadon and Milani took off to visit the Dig Tree while we lunched and
chopped, sawed and collected more wood. Stef managed to 'mess up' his finger
with the bow saw. We filled Dads wood carrier and Steve's.
Stopped at the intersection. Jadon was some way ahead and
managed to get the drone up to take pics of us all pulling in.
The drone shots taken so far have been awesome. It's such a
different perspective in things out here.
Today we have crossed the border into QLD having left SA this
morning. Back into SA about 4.45 so now it's 4.15 again.
The roads out here are quite dry and dusty again.
The landscape changes from gibber (small rocky flat bits) some
hills and valleys through a range of Mesa top mountains, through tree lined
sandy creek beds, red sandy tracks, red rocky covered hills.
Jadon spotted a great option for camp tonight. We congregated at
the Windorah Ashbury/Cordillo Downs intersection to determine that we should
travel to the next turn off and start looking. So we are beside another creek
bed only a couple of kms up the Cordillo Downs road.
We tested a bit of a configuration for camping to try and have
all camps facing each other with a common in the centre. Seemed to work well
tonight.
A brilliant warm fire in Phil's little gas bottle brazier. We
burnt Dads load of wood. When the wood was done it was time for bed as it is
quite cool out.
One of the arms of my tent sheared off tonight when putting it
up - not happy Jan. We have gaffer taped it together. Hope for a windless night
and that we can pull it down without incident. Very, very annoyed but can't do
much about it.
Might be looking for a new tent in Mt Isa, will have to see how
it goes.
Plan to be away at 9.30 tomorrow. Into Birdsville to see what's
what and what our camping options are.
Sorry, totally slack on the camera today, hardly any pictures.
